Macedon/Mount Macedon Landcare Group

Macedon & Mt Macedon Landcare Group was formed in 2006 and has worked in the bushland setting on public land
surrounding the Jubilee Hall in Macedon. Extensive weeds, particularly woody weeds such as gorse, broom and blackberry,
must be removed. The Hall is a well used and high profile community facility with adjacent Council park, amateur theatre company and rail reserve. The group holds working bees in conjunction with volunteers from the Hall committee. The work undertaken at the site has already had an impact on weed cover and visual amenity, with subsequent reduced fire risk. The group plans to continue work on this site and simultaneously tackle other needy sites. The major focus of the group is weed control and community education, particularly regarding weeds, wildlife, indigenous flora and waterway health. It supports an active Junior Landcare Group which tends a vegetable and indigenous garden at Macedon Primary School..
