Riddells Creek Landcare

Riddells Creek Landcare (RCL) has a particular mission to care for and protect a beautiful area known as Barrm Birrm on Gap Road, Riddells Creek. The land has high biodiversity with over 230 native plant species recorded (inc. 30 orchid species). Surveys of flora and fauna species led to the completion of a book on the Macedon Range Flora and the discovery of a new plant species. RCL organises education activities (walks and talks) for members and the community. Another long-term aim is to create a continuous protected wildlife corridor from the southern-most tip of the Macedon Range to Macedon Regional Park. Jointly with Greening of Riddell and Clarkefield and District Farm/Landcare the Group has helped residents install over 70 sets of solar panels on roofs and produced a weeds booklet distributed to all Riddells Creek and Clarkefield residents detailing many of the known garden-escaped weeds in our area. RCL's latest endevour, in conjuction with the Australian Plant Society Keilor Plains, has been the development of NatureShare, an interactive, web based site for documenting and sharing local wildlife observations.
